Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven, long-pile rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, handwoven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Densely woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs created by nomadic imagination often feature animals and plants, with each Gabbeh being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are not only perfect for laying on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handwoven nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your Gabbeh to be shipped without pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
