Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, handwoven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbehs are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, with a characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
