Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and excellent for temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and hand-weaving each thread meticulously by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
