Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who graze the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this naturally-dyed wool one strand at a time by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
