Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, native to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted strand by strand by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the unique property of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-knotted rugs. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present. While this scent will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping
