Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And most of all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you would like the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
