Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, one thread at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
