Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a cool feeling.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
