Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils for effective temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are exceptionally durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation even in hot weather.
And, above all, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that will stay with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request for shipping.

Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
