Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai people, nomadic tribes in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, who hand-knot them using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-knotted by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's their artistry. Nomads create Gabbeh rugs from their imagination, often featuring animal and plant designs, making each one an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a water-dampened cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request before shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
