Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Varied wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to help regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, one by one, after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, making them extremely durable.
Gabbeh, created from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created by nomads from their imagination, often features designs of animals and plants, and each one is an original one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
