Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils that help with body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand, one thread at a time, by Iranian nomads after dyeing this wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
