Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, one by one by hand, are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is an original, unique item with no two alike.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
