Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, is derived from sheep that thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. It possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, which helps the sheep regulate their body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven individually by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time, one that is uniquely yours?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms attached to the corners or along the sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
