Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles and wool dyed with natural plant extracts. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
