Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadicize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile that is rooted in their daily lives. The wool used in this product, called Persian Varianti, has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
