Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, plant-dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If dirt is noticeable: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
