Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously dyeing each strand of wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, making it feel cool even in hot weather.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
