Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time? Daily Care Please remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Important Notes Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool. This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand. Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
