Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe who nomadic graze in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of lanolin to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one by one with care by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, making it feel cool even in heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
