Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic people living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They use plant-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven fiber by fiber by Iranian nomads using this natural dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, effectively preventing heat build-up. And above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request
