Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product, which enables sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, boasts excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-to-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And, of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped without them upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
