Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, who hand-weave them using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft and pleasant feel, rich in natural oils that help regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this wool, dyed with natural dyes.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
