Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are handwoven using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
