Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-knot them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content provides a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-knot each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Densely woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with significant diurnal temperature variations, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted piece.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
