Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Varied wool used in this product, developed for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads one strand at a time after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can also be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
