Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs handwoven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms located at the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and delivered as such, if requested.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
