Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variand, has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, adept at regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this naturally dyed wool one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, or variations in dye. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique scent from the wool dye.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
