Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high oil content to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be cherished for a lifetime. Why not find a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

If you request, we can also ship your Gabbeh rug with the pom-poms on the corners and in between removed.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
