Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft to the touch, containing a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing the sensation of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving unevenness, or dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
