Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, having evolved to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for excellent thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant feel.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture, as they are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original creation.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
