Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content that helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request and shipped to you without them.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh to be shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
