Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used for the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and delivered without them if you request.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have your Gabbeh shipped without the pompoms, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
