Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinct odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
