Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and then woven one strand at a time by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are fluffy and pleasant to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of handwoven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
