Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and excellent at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads who dye the wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand by hand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created by the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, making each one a unique original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a work of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
