Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their way of life. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Precautions

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
