Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in everyday life, featuring long piles and vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weaving each strand of natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. Furthermore, their artistry is unparalleled. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not discover your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
