Features of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, natural-dye wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
