Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, grass-dyed wool carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
