Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability. Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And then, there's their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
