Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft to the touch with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its superior durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also feature warmth in winter and good ventilation in summer, providing a feeling of coolness. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. It can not only be laid on the floor but also displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
