Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils, allowing for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may be present. While this scent will gradually dissipate with use, we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
