Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them from plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a good amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
