Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, as they are dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they can also be displayed on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For気になる stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a firmly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
