Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made by meticulously hand-weaving this naturally dyed wool by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but also as art to adorn your walls.
Why not find a special Gabbeh just for you, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
