Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability and soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps sheep survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and regulate their body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a Gabbeh with a fluffy and pleasant feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often features animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, inconsistencies in weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
