Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch wool. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique and original item. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
