Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of natural lanolin that gives it excellent durability and temperature regulation properties, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, of course, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed before shipping
The tassels attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the tassels removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
