Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as art, in addition to being laid on the floor.
